New York Rangers "Heritage" Jersey

The New York Rangers have released their alternate "heritage" uniform today.  I'm really liking the jersey even though they did not go with the lady liberty Jersey

Here are some pictures of their new alternate uniform:

 I like this added touch

Placing the retired numbers along the bottom of the jersey is a great idea.  It is definitely something different and I love it

Combat Uniforms

This saturday, Army football played host to VMI for a special military appreciation day.  Army wore a special "combat uniform" designed by Nike.  Here is what they looked like:

Army pro Combat
Nike has provided pro combat uniforms for a number of teams.  You can check out some detailed pictures HERE.  My favorite team is the Florida Gators and am excited Nike has provided a uniform for them.  Below are pictures of both this years and last years versions of the Nike combat uniform

Penguins Jersey Notes

Few things going on in Penguins world.  First of all they have released their jersey to be worn at the Winter Classic versus the Washington Capitals.  You can read about it over at icethetics.  The Jersey looks like this though.

In other notes, the Pens are playing the Carolina Hurricanes tonight in Carolina.  It is rare that we see this but the Hurricanes being the home team are wearing white instead of their red or alternate black jerseys.  The penguins are wearing their alternate powder blue jerseys which were worn at the first winter classic that took place in Buffalo.  Here is a picture of that jersey being worn by Pascal Dupuis.

Now i want to point out two things from this picture which was taken from tonights game.  Number 1: Pascal's jersey does not have the laces up around the collar.  I am not sure what the reason is for this but when i find out I will pass it on.  Number 2: Notice the AWESOME mustache.  Well the penguins participate in a monthly team shootout.  The loser of the shootout is given the title "mustache boy" for the month and is then required to grow a mustache.  As you can see, Pascal Dupuis is our latest "mustache boy"

Custom Whalers/Canucks Hybrid Jersey

I recently, over the last few months, have purchased new goalie equipment to all match a green/blue theme.  After getting my
Leg Pads

Blocker

Glove

Helmet

The only thing i had left to match the uniform would be a jersey.  Now, many who know me are well aware of my Hartford Whalers obsession.  Obviously that is the reason behind the green/blue theme of my equipment.  Well i realized that an original Hartford Whalers jersey would not match my equipment because the Whaler green/blue is a slightly different color than the equipment.  Seeing as the equipment's colors are modeled after the Vancouver Canucks colors, I decided to purchase an uncrested Canucks Jersey.  I then chose to put a white whalers crest on the jersey as well as the Pucky logo on the shoulders.  It was finished off with my name and number obviously.  I am very happy with the final product which you can see below:

Anaheim Ducks 3rd Jersey

Greg Wyshynski over at Puck Daddy has posted news about a recent leak of the upcoming  Anaheim Ducks alternate jersey.  If you wanna read his post you can head over HERE

Here is a picture of the leaked jersey though:

75 Years of AHL

One of my favorite blogs to keep up on is Icethetics and they have an amazing article about some recent happenings in the AHL.  This season, the AHL celebrates it's 75th season and some teams are wearing throwback jerseys.  It is extremely complicated to understand because some of the teams are wearing jerseys that represent a different city than the one they play in.  For example, The Hartford Wolfpack (aka CT Whale) wore a jersey representing the city of Providence.  The recent article that icethetics has posted is an extremely well written explanation of why each team wears the jerseys they are wearing.  Check it out HERE

The Whalers Are Back!

The Whalers have returned to Connecticut.  However, they are now in Danbury and are part of the Federal Hockey League.  The inaugural season for both the Whalers and the FHL is set to begin at the end of this month.  What do you think of the jerseys? I really like the logo and how the jerseys pay tribute to the team they are named after.

Notice the Green jerseys and how the logo is just plain white.  It is similar to the design of the Hartford Whalers' green jersey (seen below)

THN Jersey Tournament

A while back, the popular website www.thehockeynews.com conducted a tournament of sorts to rank hockey jerseys from around the world.  My own Quinnipiac Bobcats alternate jersey was in the tournament and voted highly by readers.  Here is a link to the tournament:

Great Jersey

The LA Kings wore these jerseys during their game vs. the Vancouver Canucks.  I personally love them and think they should go back to these jerseys.  I'm assuming their current alternate jersey will be converted to their home Jersey with a white version as well.  The jerseys you see above will probably become their new alternate jersey.  For the 2010-11 season, The kings will only wear these jerseys 4 times (the number of games they play versus the Canucks).  The jersey is to pay tribute to when the team came into existence in 1967.

2 New Jersys

Today I received two new jerseys to add to my collection.
